Hi I am Katie, I am 37 years old and based in the Midlands.
I am a married mum of biological and non biological children.
I am a foster parent, Reiki practitioner as well as a teacher of meditation and sound meditation.
I am a neurodivergent person who has ADHD, I wasn’t diagnosed until I was an adult.
I come from a background of working with young people and working in homeless prevention.
The Mindful Tide first started when I was going through a difficult time and Reiki was recommended to me. After attending on a regular basis because I benefitted from it so much mentally I decided to become attuned myself.
I have practiced meditation for many years and really saw the difference that meditation made to children in my care.
I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and when I look back on my younger years I see parts that were very difficult due to undiagnosed ADHD.
I can see that if I’d had practices such as meditation and breathwork I would have had the tools to cope differently to what I did. I could have understood my mental health more, managed my emotions and had higher self worth meaning I wouldn’t have sought validation in the wrong places. Instead I had low self worth, depression, anxiety and self destructive behaviour.
This reflection pushed me to want to become a meditation teacher because I wanted to be able to teach others these tools that could help them.
After being diagnosed with ADHD I started seeking more knowledge of practices that could help me which I started sharing on Instagram then began working with others and so The Mindful tide began.
Reiki
Reiki is energy healing, founded in Japan in the 1920’s.
During a Reiki session you will lie down and using palm healing (you won’t be touched) energy is passed through to you.
Reiki reduces stress and promotes healing within the body.
Crystals can also be used during a Reiki session to promote healing.
Meditation
Meditation is the ancient practice of focused concentration. This can include focussing just on the now, it can be guided to visualise something in particular or you can meditate by putting your focus onto something in particular such as a flame or waves.
Meditation can be used to reduce anxiety and depressions and also supports physical healing within your body.
If you’ve read my ‘why’ section then you will know that I am a huge believer in the benefits of meditation and regardless of what some people think I also believe meditation can be for anybody. As someone who has ADHD I struggled at first and didn’t think it was for me but I built up my ability to meditate little by little.
For me the biggest benefit of meditation was the realisation that no matter what was going on in my life peace is within me I can access this through meditation and I want to share this with others.
I am very passionate about working with children and young people. I believe if we teach children the right practices then we give them the tools for life to help manage their mental health, their emotions and navigating challenges as we teach them to control their minds, we teach them to find the peace in themselves no matter what is going on around them and most importantly we teach them to believe in themselves and have a higher level of self worth.
I work with individuals or groups of children and young people directly. I also work with parents, carers and those who work with children and young people so they are able to meditate with their young people.
I also work with adults for Reiki and meditation, this can be individuals, private or community groups.
please get in touch for any further information on what I offer.
my latest offering is sound meditation. I have personally benefitted from attending sound baths which is a healing practice.
A sound bath is a meditative experience where your full body is ‘bathed’ in a resonant, echoing sound.
Sound baths can improve moods by releasing tension in the body.
I have a range of instruments used for sound meditation including singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs and rattles.
Already worked with us? Would like to know more about us and what we offer? we look forward to hearing from you
